Live Edge Walnut Entry Table

What can I do with leftovers?

After making a few charcuterie boards for Christmas one year, I had this piece of live edge walnut left over. I knew I wanted to build something that featured the amazing shape of the live edge, but also carried some nuanced design notes throughout the whole piece, such as the exposed oak dowel joinery for the leg assembly. Little details like this make subtle notions of the build quality and construction. This is not your flatpack, pressboard furniture.

I believe nature is the greatest designer of all.

When I approach a project, I try to find the details hidden in the piece that could easily be overlooked, and expound on those. Things like grain orientation and structure, the color variations in the wood, or even an oddly shaped knot that could become an eyesore, can be turned into a focal point for your piece.
