Custom Ambrosia Maple Island Countertop
“We want a statement piece our family can make memories around.”
When I heard these words from the clients it sparked something in me. My hope is that I not only create beautiful pieces, but create pieces that allow moments of fun, love and laughter to happen around.
The clients had a vision of a piece that served multiple roles.
They requested a countertop that would serve as not only a prep space, but also as their dinning room table. This meant form, function and a piece that could stand up to years of heavy use. After meeting with the clients, we decided on ambrosia maple as the wood and an oil / wax finish.
We hand selected reclaimed ambrosia maple that had character and color.
I love getting to use reclaimed lumber for my projects as it gives a “second life” to wood that may end up in a burn pile or rotting. This lumber carried the brown and grey undertones the clients had hoped for, while still having plenty of character.
The completed piece checked all the boxes:
